Like father like son: Imprisonment of fathers and the psychological adjustment of sons

This study shows that the profiles of children from families with imprisoned fathers have more in common to juvenile delinquents and were less similar to the norm group than children's profiles from divorced families. The findings do not conclusively prove that father absence and father imprisonment were the causes of negative psychological reactions. Conflicting family relationships prior to the father leaving the family could have caused problems in these children.
