Reducing re-offending by ex-prisoners

This policy analysis report, published under the previous administration, looks at the factors that can reduce re-offending.

Chapter 15 explores how maintaining family relationships can help to prevent re-offending and support resettlement after release - yet there is no official responsibility within prisons for ensuring relationships are maintained, and families are rarely consulted regarding sentence planning. The chapter also discusses support for families, commenting that this is very limited either during or after a sentence.
