This new informed and practical guide, written in collaboration with Mums at the end of long sentences at HMP's Eastwood Park and Bronzefield is for new Mums to use when they first enter prison and throughout their sentence. This guide comprises of an introduction to the document and chapters around the emotional and practical factors of topics such as; a mum's first night in prison, keeping in touch with children and families, telling the children, money, mother and baby units, emotional ups and downs, how mums can help children from the inside, life sentences, release and resettlement. It includes useful spaces to write notes, activities, highlights of important things to remember and quotes from prisoners and children throughout. There is also information around legal options for child care arrangements, and a glossary of useful terms, contacts, helplines and organisations.
